neural douche

Antinatalism is the view that creating new, sentient life is an act of cruelty. The philosopher David Benatar argues for antinatalism using the argument from asymmetry. The asymmetry argument is best summarized as claiming that while existence entails some good and some bad, nonexistence entails no good (which is neutral) and no bad (which is a positive.) He uses several common intuitions to back up this claim. For one, he notes that while individuals who are able to provide a good life for a child do not have a duty to have children, we generally consider those who cannot provide for a child as having a duty not to have children. Benatar also claims that while it is possible for life to go so wrong that we may conclude some unfortunate individuals would have been better of not being born, we cannot regret the non-lives of the non-existent. Much of Benatar’s argument can be traced back to a quote by Arthor Schopenhauer, “… it is quite superfluous to dispute whether there is more good

cry baby poem

I am the way I am Sarcastic, cynical, analytic, and miserable And I'd rather go to hell being myself than being someone else Not that I have a choice Your God isn't real Your values are fake And your cult is unrealistic  I can't be who you want me to be Any more than I can believe day is night

Jesus Apocalyptic Prophet notes

Jesus preached the apocalypse coming in his time thesis: Jesus preached the apocalypse coming during his generation (within 40 years) and later Christian writers and early church fathers watered down his original teaching and reinterpreted his message. both Paul and Jesus expected the apocalypse to come in their lifetimes. apocalypticism was a view common to many Palestinian Jews during that time. see the dead sea scrolls and contemporary prophets mentioned by Josephus. see the following verses: matt24:34-35: Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away. matt16:28: Truly I tell you, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom. Matt10:23: When you are persecuted in one place, flee to another. Truly I tell you, you will not finish going through the towns of Israel before the Son of Man comes.  Matt 26:64: You h

Pessimism Summed Up

Antinatalism is a natural consequence of pessimism, but it is strange to see it become a form of activism. Pessimistic activism sounds like a self contradiction, but this is such a political culture that pessimism must take on activist tropes in order to make sense to modern Westerners. You would lose something vital to the philosophy if all of your focus was on being a good person (when being a person at all might as well be a sin) and fighting for a better world (which, when it is not mere talk, is a heavy and pointless sacrifice even among popular movements.) I think a good philosophical pessimism book should first persuade the reader of the extent of our own optimism bias. The conspiracy in Ligotti's TCATHR is exactly that, that seemingly all religious and philosophical beliefs agree (conspire) on this one point: Life is worth living. Outside of pessimism, the closest you get to questioning this universal maxim are existential philosophies, which still argue that it is possible

I can't even imagine what a good life, for me, would look like. Work and sleep and stare at my phone. Reading. Guitar. I don't like anyone. I'm not interested in anyone anymore. I know I'll die in obscurity and the path between this day and the last day seems like a long, burdensome, disappointing journey. Why did I have to be born? For what purpose? It's all work and stress except in my unmemorable sleep. The near bliss of near non-existence. A quiet nirvana. I woke up to a hell that begins just beyond my bed. A world full of idiots that are either abusive or abused. And I'm marked with its stench. My hopes and dreams, too, are confined by this pointless mediocrity. There is no one for whom I might play my song, and if there was, there is nothing special about it. There is nothing new under the sun. Why do we keep breeding and dying? Surely anyone could have figured it out long ago. The Earth is a desert, filled with beasts that gnaw on the flesh of the slower.

Alone With All of the Suffering in the World

Alone with all of the Suffering in the World, it is our nature to find the beauty in life. Merely consider that phrase, “find the beauty,” does this not admit that beauty is not evident to begin with? To admit that the appearance actually is what it ought to be is anathema to all of us. How could something which is essentially beautiful cover itself in such hideous outcomes? How can that be beautiful which bares poison fruits? It is not possible to escape one's subjective bias. It is however exceedingly simple to be honest.  Death must be, or at minimum appear to be, a terror, else why endure? Pain, fear, and hunger are the substance of life, only made preferable by the familiar thought of greater evils yet. Find the people you want to die with and love them everyday. Suffering is the general rule and any small moment of happiness should be held with much gratitude. How many have been cut down, whose season never came? Stolen from nothingness and sentenced to this prison of flesh.
